Director Profile: John A. Davis

Occupation: Producer/Writer/Director

John A. Davis has been co-owner of DNA Productions, Inc. since 1987. During that time, John has been responsible for writing and directing (as well as animating) many professional films and videos for the entertainment, commercial, and corporate markets.

Most recently, Davis wrote, directed and produced the Oscar®-nominated Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius.

As a director, Davis has helmed a wide variety of projects for both television and cinema. His list of directorial credits includes: the one-hour animated Olive the Other Reindeer for Fox Television; the animated pilot The Barnyard for O Entertainment; Weird Beard, the animated pilot for DNA productions, which he also created and wrote; the Nickelodeon pilot for Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius, where he also served as creator and writer; and various episodes of the ongoing direct-to-video series Jingaroo, also occasionally stepping in as producer and writer.

Additionally, Davis directed several of the animated segments of the NBC special steve.oedekerk.com. Other projects include: creator/writer/director of King Tex, the opening for the Dallas Video Festival; creator/writer/director of Johnny Quasar, a teaser that captured “Best of Show” at the 1995 Wavey Awards; director of the animated opening and wrap-around segments of the Showtime special Attack of the 5'2” Woman!; director of multiple segments of the live-action/animated UPN series AJ's Time Travelers; creator/writer/director of the theatrical short Weird Beard and His Merry Swabs; writer/director of Hard Edition, another theatrical short; writer/director of the direct-to-video short Super Duper Eco Troopers; and writer/director of the theatrical short The Tale of Nipploless Nippleby.

Davis has also written and directed corporate films and commercials for such clients as Southwestern Bell, GTE, Tony Romas Restaurants and Mary Kay Cosmetics. His music video Don't Eat Your Seed for Drill Thrall music won the gold at the Houston International Film Festival.
